Located in the north of Gero City, Hida-Osaka lies at the west foot of a sacred mountain, Mt.Ontake.
There are more than 200 waterfalls with very distinctive features spread across the gorges that have elevation differences of approximately 2,500 m (8,200 ft) and create the abundant spring water of Mt. Ontake.
There are other attractions in Hida-Osaka, such as the hot springs in Nigorigo, Yuya, and Shitajima.
Nigorigo is a hideaway hot spring resort at an altitude of 1,800 m (6,000 ft). At Yuta and Shitajima, you can enjoy bathing in carbonated spring water, which is very rare in Japan.
