Recommended fishing spots
Odō-gawa (Kawanoie Osakao): A special fishing spot for beginners. Rich in yamame (cherry salmon) and iwanna (Dolly Varden), suitable for rod fishing and tandem fishing. Perfect for a relaxing fishing trip with a tent sauna. Kosaka-gawa and Masuda-gawa tributaries: Stocked before the season opens. The 3rd Amago Fishing Tournament was also held, featuring an enjoyable event judged by fish length. Primarily bait fishing, strictly no reels allowed. Takehara-gawa and Rinkawa: Springtime feeding frenzy opportunities. Earthworms and grape maggots are effective in mountain stream areas. Fishing Rules and Precautions: A fishing permit from the Masuda River Fishery Cooperative (daily pass around ¥1,500) is required. For tandem fishing, use no more than 4 hooks, no lures, and abide by closed seasons (e.g., around power plants). The season opens around March 1st. Enjoy a relaxing mountain stream fishing experience in the nature-rich Hida-Osaka! Beginner tournaments and guided tours are also recommended.
