Walking Map

1 Ontake Panorama Ground

The nation's first full-scale high-altitude training facility, boasting a 6-lane, all-weather 400m track and a 500m wood chip running course at an altitude of 1,700m.

2 Ontake Dagogahara Highland Training Center

Within the Hida-Mitake Highland Training Area, a facility designated as a National Training Center High-Altitude Training Enhancement Base Facility by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, one of only two in Japan.

3 Timber Falls

The entrance is located halfway down the slope from the training center to Panorama Ground. Look for the blue flags indicating the Osakasaka Waterfall Tour.
Some parts are steep, so this course is for those with strong legs. The lumbering waterfall (23m) you reach is a powerful cascade. The spray feels refreshing!

4 Primary forest walking trail

A walking trail approximately 1 km in length that winds through a natural forest in the subalpine zone. There are three entrances/exits: near the fork by the Nigori River Onsen town and the training center, in front of Hyutte Mori no Nakama, and near the entrance to the Mt. Ontake hiking trail. If you are parking, please use the nearest municipal parking lot.

5 Crimson Waterfall

A magnificent plunge waterfall with a drop of 20m. A boardwalk of about 80m leads from the Hyutte forest friends' clearing to the observation deck.
*There is no parking available. Please use the nearby municipal parking lot (free of charge).

6 Shiraito Falls
A waterfall with a drop of 15 meters, literally like several white threads hanging down. The waterfall flows down from the Yunotani valley, where the hot spring source of Nigori-ga-o Onsen wells up. It can be seen from a distance from the road.
7 Sennin Falls
Sennin-daki (30m), said to have been a place of ascetic practice for Ontakekyo followers in ancient times, is located about 500m from the road. Turn left towards Sennin-daki along the Ontake mountain climbing trail, proceed along the path following the valley, and you will arrive shortly.
8 Municipal Open-Air Bath

An outdoor bathhouse-only hot spring. You can enjoy a day trip here, such as after a mountain hike.
